The Jora Compost Tumbler JK125 Also Called Little Pig

We can't believe how quick and efficient this composter is. The Joraform Compost Tumbler takes up very little room and composts so fast you struggle to keep it full. No rodent problems or strong smells, fits easily in a small garden. You can even add cooked meat and fish waste! This unique digester is a home composting system that will recycle household food waste and garden waste of up to 1.5kgs daily.
The "Little Pig" digester is like a large mechanical stomach that literally digests the organic matter you feed it.
A fully insulated, 95cm x 83cm  bin that bolts on to the side of your house, it’s clean,
self-contained, and it turns food waste into rich compost faster than the average household can fill it

The Little Pig is so well insulated that the internal temperature reaches around 75 degrees centigrade. At that kind of temperature the micro-organisms work so fast that you can almost see the food breaking down before your eyes
Composting
Composting occurs at temperature intervals of+2 to +78C. Different micro-organisms work at different temperature intervals. Higher temperatures give a higher degree of hygienic composting, and are, therefore, more favourable. With equal moisture distribution and oxygen configuration in the Little Pig unit, plus with continued addition of waste, the temperature will rise to 65-75C. You don't have to buy a thermometer, as you will see the steam rising from the contents. In fact, it can get too hot to bury your hand in it - should you wish to do so!
Two Compartments for Maximum Results
The digester is divided into two compartments. When the first compartment is full (approx. 6 weeks) it is covered with a metal plate (provided). When the second compartment is full the first can be emptied of its’ finished compost.

The Little Pig was straightforward to assemble. We bought it 2 mnths ago and I just used the first compost from one half. It's very effective and has turned out to be quite a topic of conversation! Great purchase, thanks Quick crop. Siobhan, Dundalk

Quickcrop delivered our juroform composter promptly and in perfect condition. Thanks to the excellent on-line video, I was well able, with some help from grandson, to put it together. As we have mostly kitchen waste,I took Naill's tip of shredded paper and cardboard as source of carbon. I chop my scraps very finely and control the moisture by mixing with the paper/cardboard before putting in the juroform, and on day 12, it was steaming and not in the least soggy or smelly. We are so impressed and I will add an update when we have our first load of compost. So far...Excellent product, no more dumped kitchen waste and less newspapers for recycling.

This feels like a prototype or Mark 1, which means that it does take an effort and quite a long time to get it all assembled. But it is robust when you get it done. This may be Swedish and flatpack but it is not like putting together an IKEA product! Thank goodness for Niall's excellent video. My brother and I assembled the composter following the step by step instructions on youtube. And it still took a couple of hours. Is it worth it? Well we put in quite a bit of kitchen scraps over several days, then we have been away for about three weeks. I opened the compartment this morning to reveal a steaming, brown mixture - a complete transformation. Smelly, but very effective!

Very easy to use and turn once assembled. Putting together the flat pack took much longer than anticipated. Excited to see results in a few weeks

Delivery from quickcrop was really fast. Assembly will take about an hour, possible to do on your own but easier to do with 2 people.Material is of good quality which is reassuring given the price. Great size, fits neatly even in a small garden.

The assembly instructions that come with this Composter are no use. Go to YouTube to get instructions. The self-tapping screws are not good: they either strip the thread of the holes they are supposed to go into, or the screws themselves lose their thread. I had to use some of my own screws. Joraform should substitute them with good nuts and bolts. It would be a much better job. I think the Composter itself will work well as it seems to be breaking down the material well after two weeks. Time will tell.
